IPOH: Young Mohd Aizat Adren had wanted to be a pillar of strength for his father and two sisters who were distraught over the brutal killing of their mother and youngest brother.
But saying goodbye to his loved ones who had been so needlessly killed by a drug addict on Wednesday proved too much. His composure broke when the bodies of the two were laid in the burial ground yesterday.
As he watched the burial, the 17-year-old Mohd Aizat began to sob uncontrollably alongside his two sisters Nur Safura, 13, Nur Afini, 11, and their father Jafri Tajul Aripin, 47.
Rest in peace: Mohd Aizat pouring scented water on his mother’s grave while his sisters Nur Afini and Nur Safura look on Thursday. Around them, the more than 100 family members and friends who gathered for the funeral at Taman Perkuburan Islam in Jalan Bendahara here also shed quiet tears.
Mohd Aizat said his mother, Wah Yah Matzi, 42, had seemed a little strange when they were having their breakfast at home on Wednesday, just hours before the murder.
Wah Yah: Went home to collect handphone. “Usually, she’s always so busy with work that she hardly cooked at home. In fact, I cannot even remember the last time she cooked,” he told reporters after the funeral.
That morning, however, Mohd Aizat said his mother not only cooked enough food for breakfast but also for lunch.
“She made four whole dishes. I was so surprised but didn’t question her. I ate and enjoyed it, not knowing that would be my last meal from her,” he said in between sobs.
Mohd Aizat said later that afternoon, he left his mother’s salon in a shopping complex here to send his siblings to school.
Diani: The family’s Indonesian maid. “This was our daily routine. After sending my siblings, I would return to her salon to continue work,” he said.
On Wednesday, Wah Yah decided to return home to Taman Pinji Seni after realising that she had left her mobile phone behind.
“The next thing I knew, our family friend called and told me that my mother had been murdered by a drug addict,” Mohd Aizat said.
It is believed that on her way home, Wah Yah had made a stop at the bank, from where the drug addict followed her on his motorcycle.
The 26-year-old addict trailed Wah Yah to her home, where he slashed and stabbed her, her five-year-old son Ermin Denish and maid Diani Miasih, 21, before making off with a laptop.
However, two family friends and Jafri managed to catch him and handed him to the police.
